Insurance FAQ

BTN Restoration is a licensed general contractor, experienced in the procedures for filing and executing insurance claims.  We are your one-stop-shop for all of your restoration needs, managing the process from start to finish.  In an emergency situation, we will immediately secure the property damage.  We will then assist you in filing an insurance claim, and work with the insurance company to assure that the work is completed in a timely fashion, and within the limits of the insurance quote.

How do I file an insurance claim?

The first step is to call your insurance agent.  They will gather the information they need to initiate the claim form.  Next, they will send an insurance adjustor to investigate the damage.  This must be done before you begin making repairs.  The insurance adjustor will provide a monetary value for the necessary repairs.  Some insurance companies will pay the contractors directly, while others provide claim checks to the property owner.

What is a Deductible?

The deductable is the amount of money that the homeowner must pay towards the repairs.  This amount is selected by the insured when they purchase the insurance policy.  Generally, the higher the amount of the deductable, the lower the insurance premium.

Do I have to use my Insurance Company's Adjuster?

If you do not agree with the insurance adjustor’s assessment of the damage, you may hire a public adjustor to value your loss.  The insurance company will then review both assessments and negotiate a fair settlement with you.

How long will it take to settle my claim?

The amount of time it takes to settle a claim varies from company to company and the extent of the damage to your home.  BTN will work with your insurance company to streamline the claims process and assure a quick resolution. Many insurance companies have a system in place that allows you to monitor the status of your claim online.

How do I choose a General Contractor?

When selecting a general contractor, it is important to choose a company that is familiar with the insurance claim procedure.  There is a lot of detail involved in managing insurance claims, and an experienced contractor will be able to help guide you through the process.
